Two items this week are on my radar as ideal travel products.
I’m a relatively recent iPhone convert. Having now fallen in love with my phone, I want to protect it in whatever way I can to ensure a long and happy life for it. I switched from a silicone outer shell to the Otterbox Commuter TL Case.
The Otterbox includes:
- A protective self-adhering clear film to prevent scratches on the phone’s screen.
- A soft silicone skin that wraps around the phone
- A polycarbonate hard shell that protects the phone from nicks and drops
The silicone shell makes it easy for you to slide it in and out of your pocket and it doesn’t pick up lint and dust like an outer silicone skin does. Unfortunately, this also makes for an easy skid across your car’s dashboard (not that you should be on your phone when you’re driving anyway!).
This comes in 7 colors and retails for about $30 ($20 on Amazon).

The Vemayca cosmetic bag features a removable liner so that when the inevitable spill or powdery buildup occurs with your makeup or lotions, you won’t have to worry about having ruined the bag AND it cleans out super easy. Disclaimer: I’m not a big makeup person, so I’m less concerned about my cosmetics than I am my lotions.
And, those lotions have seeped out of their bottles countless times what with all the tossing around my bag endures in-flight. Inevitably it’s a hassle to clean the bag out once a spill does occur.
With the Vemayca, I can just empty the contents and pull out the Soft Pearl Liner, give it a rinse, let it dry and then just snap it back into place. No more trying to reach down into a bag to get at every nook and cranny to ensure it’s all clean.
While the removable inner liner is what makes the Vemayca unique, it’s some of the other features that I think make this really stand out:
- Super soft outer material in 2 classy colors (gray and red)
- 2 lined (but not removable) outer pockets
- Metal zipper pulls that are large enough to grip AND they slide easily
- Silver satin lining makes it easy to see the contents
- Flat bottom so that the bag stands upright
You won’t be able to take this in your carry-on bag with liquids (because it’s not see-through) but if you’re checking a bag, place it in there or be sure to take it along with you on road trips.
Available on the Vemayca website for $35.

Beth
